The Branch Dinner Night
Saturday 14th March 2020
At the Guidepost Post Hotel, Bradford
Phew..... that was a close shave Boris and his Government almost got to cancel our Dinner Night. On the Thursday before the event the situation in the UK regarding Covid 19 moved from Prevent to Delay....
After great consultation and much deliberation it was decided to Party on and that’s what we did....
48 hours before the Night, 8 tables of 64 guests and members were to be seated, on the night eventually we had 47 seated on 6 tables. 17 very understandable but non the less disappointing cancellations.
Our Guest of Honour was Gordon Haywood and his wife Sue, of the South Yorkshire Branch, Gordon has worked so very hard supporting and promoting our Association for over a period of 6 Decades, amazing.
Those present did have a wonderful evening and did not let the worrying times we are living in detract from just that..... enjoying one another’s wonderful company.
The Branch Christmas Party
Thursday 5th December 2019
On Thursday in our “Home for over 20 years” the Robin Lane Club, Pudsey over 40 Members, Family and Friends enjoyed a wonderfully entertaining festive evening. Just marvellous to share the company of some of our more frail “Stalwarts” George and Wendy Prince, thank you Karen for bringing your Dad along Walter and Moira Parkes and Bill Gooch (thanks again Sam Jackson) Again thank you to our Vice Chairman, Eric Boddy for that Devilish quiz, no one with more than 75% wow it was tough. Ray the Magical Wizard and great friend, just how did that card get in that balloon? Finally a mahoosive thank you to our ladies Sheila, Jean and Pat who never stop, from when the doors open to the last one out. However again as I said on the night the biggest round of applause goes out to you all for the support shown, THANK YOU.
The total collected for the Christmas Raffle was a splendid £166
The Donation to The St Georges Police Children’s Trust in lieu Christmas Cards was a brilliant £78.60, Patrick Cairns will be really pleased and surprised.
My sincerest thanks to everyone who has supported our Branch throughout this year, trust me I know just how busy we all are with families, friends and work commitments so any support shown is greatly appreciated.
As I said at our Christmas Party, I salute our “Old Firm” you are without doubt the Shining Light and set a fine example to all our younger members and hopefully we will together continue to move the West Yorkshire Branch RMPA forward with a positive energy into 2020.
“WISHING YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY, WEALTHY NEW YEAR”
P.S. DONT FORGET NO MEETING IN JANUARY.

Gone but Never Forgotten.
KWVR “Howarth Haddock”
Saturday 31 August 2019
At the end of a very busy August, 40 members, family and friends including guests from the North East and South Yorkshire Branches RMPA thoroughly enjoyed a certainly different evening on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) “Haworth Haddock” experience. A brilliant way to regale in one another’s company while enjoying good old “Yorkshire Fish and Chips” and travelling along beautiful countryside in historic but cozy railway carriages. But that was not all the evening was about because on the platform of Keighley Railway Station we were entertained by the brilliant 4 piece band “Wired” who performed an eclectic set that got many of our members on their toes dancing.
Sunday 10 November 2019 at Pudsey
Well this year the weather stayed fair although very chilly and as usual many of us met, before forming up at the Pudsey Bus Station, in our local Wetherspoons, even Patrick came along discover why a few of us call Spoons our second home.
Once again a splendid turnout with brilliant support from our ladies as can be seen in one of our pics. A special thank you to Pete Broddle and his wife Sue for journeying a good distance to support us.
Pudsey had once again "Pulled out all the stops" with the Parade route and War Memorial being wonderfully decorated. Also another year with exceptional support for the Service and Parade.
Afterwards the majority of our members enjoyed a perfect Sunday Lunch at the Manor Golf Club, Drighlington.
Turn to Starboard on the “Spirit of Falmouth”
8 - 13 September 2019
In September we had our long awaited “Sailing Trip” courtesy of the excellent Veterans Sailing Charity “Turn to Starboard” and the mastermind of branch member Paul Thompson. 8 members travelled to Falmouth for an opportunity to sail out of Falmouth, heading for Plymouth via Fowey, on a four day sailing trip, onboard the Sloop “The Spirit of Falmouth” a 92 foot beautiful yacht with somewhat cramped but entertaining living conditions. We all worked and as you can imagine played hard throughout the experience and rumour has it another trip to sea is already in the planning stages. Something tells me we may not have to “Press Gang” quite so many next year.
A Day at the Races
Sunday 18 th August 2019
August and for the third year running members of the Branch, Family and Friends joined together at the “RMP Family Day at Yorkshire Races” where the Branch encouraged all the Yorky RMP folk, wether Serving or Veteran to come along and join us. It was a gloriously sunny, if somewhat breezy day at Pontefract Racecourse where sadly most of us once again threw money at the bookies but all enjoyed wonderful company and laughter. Thank you our neighbours, Hull and East Riding Branch always great to be in your company. Next year this event will be at Beverley Racecourse hosted by those in ‘Ull.”

Sunday 18 August 2018
Thankfully the weather remained fair, although there was a warm blustery wind.
Once again members of the Branch enjoyed a day out at the Races and we enjoyed the company of RMP friends from Kent, Norfolk and the Midlands. We also welcomed Martin Jones and his lovely wife Stella to Yorkshire, recently married Martin has decided to move from his native Wales and become an honorary Yorkshireman.
A lovely day although a tough one on the pockets of the narrator😫☀️👍

Once again thanks to Les and Margaret’s great kindness members of the West Yorkshire Branch find themselves enjoying our hosts hospitality, as our President David Bentley put it,”in this verdant utopian setting of their beautiful garden.”
Ray our friend and very talented Magician wowing once again his audience and this time very wisely keeping his money in his pocket.
A very acutely contested Boules Tournament on the top lawn with the eventual winners, the brutal pairing of Geanette and Sam Gantschuck.
Once again thank you Margaret and Les, a wonderful afternoon, luscious BBQ and marvellous company.

2017 Christmas Party
Here are just a few photos of the Branches Annual Christmas Party. It was great to see so many supporting the Branch especially considering how attrocious the weather was, that certainly didn't dampen our spirits.
Lovely to see the new faces amongst us and we hope that you enjoyed yourselves enough to "Spread the Word" and join us again as and when you can, no pressure;-)
Remembrance Service - Sunday 12 November 2017, Pudsey
The Branch proudly paraded with Standard in the beautiful sunshine but Artic temperatures at the Pudsey Memorial Service to pay our respects to the fallen.

In November 2017 the WO1 RSM Jason McCoubrey, 150 Pro Coy RMP invited a small element of the Branch to attend a briefing being given PM(A) on the Role of RMP within an ever changing and flexible Armed Forces.
The PM was briefed by those Senior and Junior NCOs pictured below. It was a delight to witness just how professional our Corps is today.
An excellent day out and thank you RSM for the invite.
Canal Cruise August 2017
The weather was projected to be a day of heavy rain showers, all day, so everyone of the Branch turned up for the Lunch cruise on the Leeds/Liverpool canal in Cagoules and armed with Brollies.
Well these adventurers need not have bothered the weather was beautiful throughout.
The leisurely 3 hour long cruise from Skipton heading east towards Leeds was totally relaxing but with an excellent, tasty helping of Meat and Ale Pie, Mash and Mushy peas to accompany us and of course a bar, the afternoon and lovely Yorkshire scenery just passed by so quickly. Too quickly to be honest so many of us had to carry on the motion by visiting some of the local hostelries of Skipton before heading home.
Branch Meeting and Fish and Chip Supper Night - Aug 2017
A good turnout for the meeting which gave the Branch the opportunity to officially thank Margaret and Les Fryer for their wonderful hospitality at a barbecue for Branch Members and Friends in their beautiful garden. The picture is yours truly presenting on behalf of the Branch a Corps flag, that we trust will be proudly flying on Fryer's Hill when in residence and at the next BBQ.
In the other photo Branch Members, some with a mouthful of chips (George), can be seen enjoying luscious Yorkshire Fish and Chips in our local chippy where we all dined after the meeting.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening, thank you one and all.
Margaret and Les's Barbecue - July 2017
Thank you once again to Les and Margaret for yet another brilliant barbecue in your beautiful garden. The food was wonderful and company lovely.
I know you both realise how much we, the Branch member, appreciate all the hard work you put into this brilliant occasion. Ray the magician, who loves to throw his Twenties away was a great touch.
The sun does indeed shine on the righteous.
RMP Service of Remembrance at the NMA, Alrewas - June 2017
The Branch was once again well presented at the above Service. Our newly appointed Standard Bearer, Sam Jackson did a sterling job proudly presenting the Standard, he was closely supervised by his family and of course, by Sam Gantschuck who was presenting the SIB Standard.

RMPA Annual Reunion 2017 and AGM
Hosted by The South Wales Branch at The Angel Hotel, Cardiff.
Four members of the Branch attended the above Reunion. It was a brilliantly organised event, very well supported by members from around the UK and indeed the world.
The weekend started on Friday 12th with an informal evening fish and chip supper. Saturday various local excursions were arranged for attendees and on Saturday afternoon The AGM was held, minutes of which will be available shortly. However after some debate The RMPA Rules were passed and supported with a great majority.
Saturday Evening the Formal Dinner was held in the Hotel, to start the occasion a magnificent Welsh Male Voice Choir regailed guests with a wonderful selection of popular songs.
On Sunday, the sun shone on the righteous, as a well attended Drumhead Service was held on the lawns in front of the splendid Cardiff City Hall, ending with a proud march pass of the Old and Bold.
The pictures tell our story.
Ashworth Barracks, VC Trust, Doncaster
Branch Visit, Sunday 30 April 2017
A few photos from our marvellous day visit to The Ashworth Barracks Museum, VC Trust.
"The charitable aims of the VC Trust fall into 2 main categories, firstly to restore the final resting places of VC recipients not in the care of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Secondly to educate the public as to their lives and citation details ( why they were awarded a VC). The creation of the museum meets the second charitable aim and income from the museum will cover the first."
With a brilliant and very informative tour of 2.5 hours given by Ex RAF Regiment, Paul.
After the tour the afternoon was rounded off beautifully with lunch at the Marr Lodge, near Barnsley.
Annual Dinner Night 25th March 2017
Guidepost Hotel, Lowmoor, Bradford
Another wonderful Dinner Night with members, guests and friends of the Branch.
An Evening with Walter and his Dogs.
I would once again like to thank Walter Parkes of The West Yorkshire Branch for the very entertaining and enlightening talk he gave to our members at our meeting in February 2017.
Walter your knowledge of dog training and in particular Tracker Dogs is amazing and congratulations on your success in this field.
I don't have to tell you how much we all enjoyed the talk because we had to stop the question and answer phase before the Club closed and the Pie and Peas burned😘👏👏👏👏👏
Walter and Moira Parkes.
Christmas Party 2016
Great to see a well supported Christmas Party. Thank you Eric for the "Devilish Quiz" Sheila and Pat for a well run raffle and everyone for supporting the Branch so splendidly. It was lovely to see some new faces join us. The occasion gave the Branch the opportunity to thank George Prince, our outgoing Treasurer, for his dedication during his tenure and we know he will enjoy the splendid limited edition of "Lest we Forget" by the very talented Russ Banks, RMP. Also we were able to thank and offer a token of our appreciation to the management of The Robin Lane Club our place of abode.
